It’s a Horrible Truth

I received my sons school report today.

My son is autistic but we are having trouble finding the support he needs.

It took us eight years to find someone willing to give us a diagnosis (not that I have received that report yet).

Until this year we had him placed in mainstream public school. I haven’t regretted our decision, until this moment.

My intelligent, beautiful son; was treated like a naughty child in that public school and I’m am incredible said to admit I treated him the same. (Behaviour wise).

I had trouble associating my experiences with my son and those of his public school teachers.

At home he loved reading, he enjoyed learning with numbers. He loved trying everything. When he started school, he became less interested. He stopped trying. I constantly blamed myself and got angry at him.

I would yell and become frustrated. I would try and talk to him and he promised to try harder just for him to slip back into the disruptive behaviour.

The teachers began to hold him back to finish his school work while the other kids had lunch and played. He was forced to repeat and was bullied regularly. Those bullies physically hurt him, he came home bruised on several occasions. However, it was my son that was named “Instigator”.

An autistic child, such as mine, can not express themselves to another. When frustrated my son will scream, when scared he will cower, when pushed he will retaliate with violence. He does not understand the intricacies of social conduct. He has no idea how friendships work. If a child hit him and called him friend he would know no different.

We were consistently bombarded with the schools “concerns” about him. We were routinely reminded that we had to have him “diagnosed” otherwise his treatment would stay the same.

I’ll be honest the first three years were liveable. Not perfect but his teachers were fairly understanding. Even though they were understanding they still stood around with their hands tied by red tape and proper professional behaviour. I’ll also note that those teachers were women.

Last year he had his first male teacher.

Everything fell apart, that fine line we had been treading snapped under the pressure.

Again and again this teacher pulled us into his class room. Stared down at as and tore our child apart.

Again and again he told us he could not “teach” a child like ours. He would tell us he didn’t have the time for our son. Never did he listen to our boy, or to us. But, that child or the staff member that pointed blame at my child was believed with no investigation.

My son began to suffer as he never had. He began to have night terrors. He told us everyday he was sick in hopes we would keep him home. His thick brown hair began to recede and fall from his head. My child was loosing weight and still his teacher treated him as a nuisance.

My husband and I began to hunt for another school one that would be willing to help. We failed to find a public School that took us seriously. Even more, that dreaded paperwork we had been trying to get since my son was three, was requested; Demanded until we wanted to scream aloud with anger.

Finally September rolled around and we found a doctor willing to listen to us. Even better she wrote a referral to a paediatrician. Because we had spent so long trying to work within our local community and we were failed. Our new paediatrician was not just out of town. He was out of state.

Within two months we had a appointments set to determine his condition.

We took him and they were supportive, the diagnosed him but I haven’t received the report yet. It’s been four months.

We had to bite the bullet and place our son in a private school we can’t afford just so he can have the support he needs to learn.

Even without the official report they are trying so hard for our son. They have him placed in special development classes to work on his social skills. His teachers take the time to talk him through his work and encourage him.

And we received his school report today.

I’m in tears, my wonderful son is trying so hard. His teachers praise him for his developments, slow as they might be. They praise him for the kind gentle child that he is.

He isn’t bullied, in fact, the other children encourage him. He plays alone because that is his choice.

Never have I felt so completely heart broken and so unbelievably happy at the same time.

This post is from 2015, I wrote and posted it on my first WordPress blog. As Me and Miss Tay is the one I want to keep I’m now posting it here.

So a quick update on my boy.

It took us nine, NINE! months to receive his ASD report and then it was only thanks to that brilliant private school that took him in. The harassed the Doctors and hunted it down because my queries were going unanswered. The even payed the overdue payments (I refused to pay the last of my bill until I saw the report). This school has been a god send (side note it’s a Catholic school) he’s advanced, he may never be an “A” student but going from a failing student to a “D” and sometimes “C” student is just amazing.

He has the support of the whole school. I’ve seen students calm him when he was in a meltdown, I’ve seen students try and teach him, with patience beyond their years, how to play sports. He gets invited to birthdays, his teachers are supportive and he has a special aid to help him.

This school was the best thing that ever happened to our boy.

His current teacher and I, don’t see eye to eye all the time but thats fine she’s pushing Dante’s limits. We, she and I, just have different methods of teaching. She thinks I should watch him do everything and I mean everything he does. Where I believe for my som to become a functioning adult he needs to be taught to take responsibility for himself and his actions.

Her way has me micro managing him and mine has a list of chores (written down so he can see them, of course) that he has to do everyday after school.

I raised him from day one my way, but he likes her way, and why wouldn’t he everybody else does everything for him and he has uninterrupted attention.

But he’s succeeding and that’s all that matters.

PS I need to find a way to thank this school.

Baimeni: Natural Products that Work for you and your wallet!

What a crazy time. It’s been awhile since my last post and, wow, have I been busy!

Finally, my son has been medically diagnosed as Autistic (about time! We have been chasing this diagnosis for the better part of 8 years), I went to Sydney and spent ten whole days with my best friend and her family (yay) and my beautiful husband brought me a brand new car (First brand new car ever). Unfortunately, since returning from Sydney my household has been sick (just a cold).

But what my last month did bring me was an amazing amount of time to try out my Baimeni products.

So without further ado lets get into it 😘

The Product

Baimeni Facial
Baimeni toner, cleanser, and hydrating serum.

Baimeni Illuminating Apple Cider Vinegar & Aloe Vera Toner ($11.50), Nourishing Honey Face Cleanser ($10.00), Hydrating eye & Face serum with Hyaluronic Acid ($25.00).
Theses three can be brought in a bundle for $46.50.

About the products!

All Baimeni products are 100% Natural, Cruelty free, non-toxic, certified sustainable Palm oil as well as being free from Sulphate, Paraben, Lanolin, artificial colours or fragrances.
The products are Australian owned and made. The honey used in there products is Australian sourced in Victoria.

I’m not sure about you guys, but that, to me makes Baimeni an incredible company.
My favourite product is the Nourishing Honey face Cleanser ($10.00)
the is product is amazing! It contains nothing but Raw, Unprocessed, Cold Extracted, Unfiltered, Unblended honey!

Baimeni Honey
Baimeni Honey Cleanser

That’s right honey! It smells and tastes amazing and leaves your skin feeling incredible. Why honey? Well honey is a greatly misunderstood creation. It naturally nourishes and moisturises skin, has antioxidants in it as well as antibacterial and anti microbial properties.

It tastes great on toast too!

The honey cleanser can be used in conjunction with the Illuminating Apple Cider Vinegar & Aloe Vera Toner ($11.50),
Which has a strong scent. With the apple cider and lavender oil it is unmistakable. It left my skin feeling tight, clean and a little dry. But it also leaves it cleaner and clearer then before.
According to the Baimeni, it aids oily and acne-prone skin by treating acne and reducing redness and on dry or normal skin, Baimeni Apple Cider Vinegar and Aloe Vera Toner helps exfoliate the skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

I can definitely vouch for their claims. I have combination skin and I’m left for days feeling like my skin is under control and that’s only using the products once. I was curious to see how long my skin would feel fantastic. I only used water to wash my face and it only began to get funky after 3 days.

How to use!!

To use this cleanser it’s simple!
Remove Makeup
Dampen face
Measure out ½ teaspoon of cleanser and massage into skin. Use small circles in an upwards direction. This allows for increased blood flow and the upwards direction helps with skin tightening. After all why help gravity do its job.
You can, at this point, either leave the cleanser on for twenty minutes as a mask or use a warm damp cloth to remove the cleanser.
It’s very relaxing when using as a mask.

It’s also suggested to use Baimeni Illuminating Apple Cider Vinegar & Aloe Vera Toner and Baimeni Hydrating eye & Face serum with Hyaluronic Acid after using the Nourishing Honey Face Cleanser.
I use the combo before applying my make up and it’s always smooth and sets naturally against the skin. The Baimeni combo has yet to fail aiding me with a flawless look when I’m going out.

To use the toner
Simply cleanse as above.
Add small amount of toner to cotton ball ( I use a foundation sponge, the feel of cotton balls make me sick and my skin crawl) glide over fave and neck ( make sure to avoid the eyes) and follow with the facial serum.

To use the Facial serum
Cleanse face (as above)
Apply serum all over eye, face and neck, morning and night
( Follow with a moisturiser Or SPF)

The Results!!

Baimeni Results
Baimeni Cleanser Results…wow

Fantastically relaxed and moisturised skin. Not to mention the added bonus of feeling mentally relaxed.
My skin becomes increasingly softer, smoother, and takes on a wonderful glow of health after the use of Baimeni Illuminating Apple Cider Vinegar & Aloe Vera Toner, Nourishing Honey Face Cleanser, Hydrating eye & Face serum with Hyaluronic Acid.

Burt’s Bees Radiance Facial Cleanser and more!

Burt’s Bees has a range of beauty product from lip balms to facial cleansers to moisturisers. They even have a line of baby care goods that, until today, I had no idea they had available.

If you didn’t know, I’ve been a fan of Burt’s bees since 2014 when I received my first Bellabox  ( ). Inside was a Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip balm, and it became my favourite and was subsequently stolen by my best friend, apparently, she loved it too.

A few boxes later and I received a Burt’s Bees hand creme. And so my love of Burt’s Bees products began.

In this blog I’ll share with you three Burt’s Bees products:

Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Cleanser with Clary Sage

Burt’s Bees Radiance Facial Cleanser

Burt’s Bees Lip Balm

Burt's Bees lip balm and Cleansers
Burt’s Bees

Hydrating Cleansers
Hydrating Cleanser

Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Cleanser with Clary Sage is a facial cleanser which I’ll admit I use as a body wash. It has an intense scent that is strong (hence using it as a body wash). It leaves the skin with a fresh scent after your shower though and it lingers for hours. (It’s quite pleasant after your shower). The hydration cleanser feel so soft when you rub it into the skin and a bonus it only takes a small amount to cover the body (10 -20 cent piece).

imageFacial Cleanser
Radient Facial Cleanser

Burt’s Bees Radiance Facial Cleanser with Royal Jelly, smells amazing! It immediately helped me relax. I definitely love this product. It does everything it claims. It takes a small amount (5 – 10 cent piece) to provide full coverage. The sweet-smelling facial cleanser removes dirt, old skin, and makeup without a fuss, leaving you skin feeling amazingly clean.

Lip Balm
Lip Balm

Burt’s Bees Lip Balm come in some amazing flavours including Strawberry, Wild cherry, Açai berry, Coconut & Pear, Pomegranate, Vanilla Bean, Bees wax, Pink Grapefruit, Mango Butter and Honey. (please note the lip balm doesn’t taste like the flavours) aside from this they do actually work.

The Results!!

Intense Hydration Cleanser (AU$24.95)works almost immediately. It leaves your skin feeling clean, fresh and soft to touch. It’s a thick cream that is soft to the touch and I discovered an incredible bonus. As I said I use it as a body wash, and it made my mummy stripes (stretch marks) softer and harder to notice. Even three hours later the soft scent was still lingering on my skin and I felt amazing.

Radiance Facial Cleanser (AU$24.95) is a light creamy liquid that feels like silk. It starts working as soon as you start applying it, you can feel your face tighten as you lather the soft cleanser into your skin. It left my skin feeling tighter, cleaner, and softer than before, even days later my skin was feeling amazing. It even helped my break out (hormones) lessen.

Burt’s Bees Lip Balm (AU$6.95), their range of lip balms offer different effects from hydration to lip colour. I prefer the lip hydration (I live in the desert). They work amazingly well. So well in fact that I can overlook the unfortunate after taste that they can have. My lips are always softer and less prone to splitting when I use Burt’s Bees Lip Balms.

Trefiel Hydrating Masks: Incredible and Affordable!

I always get excited when my Bella Boxes arrive.

I mean, who wouldn’t!?

All those new and exciting products to try…. it’s heaven.

It’s the simple things in life, after all, that can change the outlook of your day.

A cup of coffee, a good book, a holiday on a beach or a Bella Box delivery.

Even a piece of chocolate!

Well, this month’s boxes were especially satisfying. Not only because I’ve missed the last six months’ worth, but, in this month’s box….. a beautiful gem that this mummy was in desperate need of………  A hydrating face mask.  That feeling of contentment and peace everyone seeks. That’s what a good face mask brings.

Trefiel hydrating face mask!

(insert squeal and jig here.)

My skin has taken a beating this last year, between bad diet, no sleep, and no time for pampering. My skin was beside it’s self in desperation for relief.

So I pondered this amazing find, questions running through my mind.

Was it a good brand? (I had never heard of it!)

Was it going to work? (One can only hope.)

Was it tested on animals? (I hope not)

Will the chemicals be too harsh on my skin? (eeeeekk!)

I didn’t know the answers, but gee I was excited to find out!!

About the product!

Trefiel Hydrating masks are gorgeous!

blog Trefiel.png
It would slip every time I smiled.

Each mask has a lace design that belongs at a masquerade ball. Its elegant and sophisticated……. just all round fun.

Its plant based and magic (at least I believe its magic) the hydrating gel starts working instantly and you can feel it!!!!!

They are cruelty free and, YES!!! Pregnant mums can use them. There are no harmful chemicals in these masks.

How to use!!

It’s simple!

After removing the Mask from the foil packet, separate it from its backing and shape to your face. It comes in two parts, so no worries you didn’t break it.

Overlap the two parts for the best results, or if you’re like me, to actually fit your face.

You  have to love the excess. 🙂

The masks are very slippery and take a minute to stop sliding off your face (sounds scary, but it just needs to start being absorbed). Just relax in bed, or your tub, while the mask works and no worries.

Leave the mask on for 15 – 30 minutes and enjoy.

When the time is up, DON’T wash your face. The hydrating gel continues working after you remove the mask.

The Results!!

Speak for themselves!

blog Trefiel results.png

My skin was smoother looking and felt softer than it has in a loooong time. Even my husband was enamored with the feel of my skin.

I left the mask on for 30 minutes and I couldn’t believe it! It just looks so much better.

I do believe I’m in love and am quite happily going to subscribe to a pamper package.

Where Can I Get One??

Trefiel are an Australian Company based in Melbourne, Vic. They offer free shipping (Australia Only) they only ship to USA, New Zealand and Europe so far ( no doubt that will change).
